This is probably the best I’ve done so far. Clamped to a roll bad in the passenger footwell is a Rode Videomic hooked to a GoPro. Alligator clipped to the bodywork just above the exhaust is a cheap lavalier microphone (with a mini dead cat) hooked to my phone. The lav clipped a lot, so it will have to be moved away from the exhaust. It’s just too sensitive.

The car itself is quite loud at the moment. I chopped the catalytic converter off in search of more noise after the exhaust shop accidentally quieted the car down a lot with a cheap muffler. I need to learn to weld so I can do this whole setup myself properly.

Verdict: Not a lot of wind noise. The wind noise is mainly what you hear when you’re in the car - wind rushing over the flying brick, tire noise, traffic nearby, etc. Lav needs to be moved.

Looks cool! Makes me want to ride in it.

Unrelatedly, I noticed that I shift a lot more than you do. Dunno if that’s me, my car, or both. I generally keep my RPMs between 1k and 2k unless I’m opening it up wide (almost always on an on- ramp).

Can your ever drive that car and be bored?

Haha. I was just cruising around. I’ve been keeping my RPMs down and smooth around town because it’s “LOOK AT MEEEEEE” loud now. Otherwise, I’d be shifting a lot more and keeping mine at 4 -5 k. Haha.

I shift a lot in the Miata when I’m driving for gas mileage.

Haha. Not really. But you can drive this car and be cold and/or sunburned . In fact, I REALLY need to get some seat heaters for it. It’s quick and fun and fully exposed - which cuts both ways.

The other thing I’ll say is that it’s exhausting. You get out after a 2 hour drive and then just take a nap or zombie all day.

I’d argue for a heated vest, motorcycle style. More complete as it wraps around you and works with the insulation of clothing, not against it.

How are you connecting the mic to  the GoPro? Are you mounting the GoPro without the waterproof case?

For the other end of the spectrum they make coolshirts as well. There is no AC in my mustang and i t can get pretty hot. I can locate a cooler where the spare tire would be and hook up a few vests to it for cooling.

I drilled a hole in the case. They make a dongle to attach a mic.

Yeah, I've looked into those already. I may actually make one.
